Mixed martial arts is a perfect example of the American dream. Fifteen years ago, this sport was practically banned in all states and looked down upon due to it's highly explicit, bare knuckle contact. What's changed? The right man for the job and his name is Dana White. A former practicioner of boxing, White was the pefect fuel for the fire. The stones it took for this guy to invest in a sport that was considered to be overly violent and blasphamous in the public eye, must be huge. With his hard work, some tweaking of the rules, and a few state delegate signatures; mixed martial arts continues to flourish as one of the most successful sports of our time.

As a personal practicioner of the sport, I can assure all whom are curious, that it is one hell of an exciting event to see. Is it not the most pure form of competition to submit and conquer an opponent with nothing but your bare hands?(or feet, or knees, or elbows...) With a growing track record, mma is actually safer than most other sports. Yes, you will bleed. Hell you might break your jaw, but there have never been any serious injuries or deaths since the sport has existed. The training involved is so intense I personally know seasoned veterans of combat that can barley handle it. I believe its a positive thing, in my humble opinion, to train in mixed martial arts because you will always have someone their pushing you to get better and that sentiment tends to transend into other aspects of life.

The Most Well Rounded Athlete Is A Fighter.

The amount of rigorous torment these guys put their bodys through would make an NFL training camp look like Sunday school. It is beyond a doubt that these fighters whom deserve the title "athlete" are far superior in cardio, endurance and strength than any other type of athlete. In every sense of the word, you are going to war. Each and every time a fighter steps into the cage or octagon, he/she (yes she) is laying it all on the line. They have no teamates to hand off too, no helmets, sticks, face-masks, or goggles. They're locked into that cage with 4 oz. gloves on their hands to protect their knuckles, not their opponents face and thats it. Three 5 minute rounds with a one minute break between and five 5 minute rounds in the event of a title fight. Every single muscle you have is the most important one as a fighter because the possible scenarios in a fight are endless. Hence a fighter is not only the most well rounded athlete; he/she is a warrior and equally strong mentally.

Good start but cut out the bold print. It's a little too much.
